Clean Air and Climate Lobby Day Tomorrow (2/26) with MWEG
Action Utah and Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG) will be lobbying tomorrow, focusing on clean air and climate issues. I'll be giving an overview of HB403, and Action Utah will give an overview of upcoming clean air bills and appropriations requests. HCR005 Committee Hearing
Friday 2/15 was a disappointing day in climate legislation. Rep. Ward's HCR005- Concurrent Resolution Urging Policies That Reduce Damage from Wildfires, was heard in the House Natural Resources Committee. Rep. Ward, Professor John Armstrong from Weber State, Professor Ben Abbott from BYU, and Helen Moser from LWV all testified and did a great job speaking about the effects of climate change on wildfire risk. In the end, the committee passed an amendment removing all of the climate language from the resolution.
