More HB411 Resolutions

Millcreek, Kamas, and Kearns have passed their HB411 resolutions, bringing our total to 11 municipalities! They join Cottonwood Heights, Holladay, Moab, Oakley, Park City, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, and Summit County in the 100% clean electricity club. It's especially significant that we are getting buy-in from communities who weren't expected to be likely candidates.

The Kearns City Council passed the resolution unanimously, saying “why wouldn’t everyone want to join on to this?" The Kamas Council said, "This would be a missed opportunity not to be involved in this."

Increasingly Utah's coal plants are being seen as a major financial liability, and these resolutions are being seen as a possible way to reduce risk going forward.

For people in other municipalities, you can still use the Sierra Club's letter writing tool to support 100% clean electricity. It will look up your city council members and send your message to the right people. Municipalities with interest that are coming up include Ogden, Orem, Sandy, West Valley City, Francis, Henefer, and Taylorsville.

Upcoming dates are:

November 19 - Ogden. City Council work session. Details. Public comment handout.

November 19 - West Valley City - potential resolution introduction & discussion. Details. Public comment handout.

November 19 - likely Sandy City Council discussion / vote

December 3rd - Ogden. Resolution discussion and vote.
