ACTION ALERT! Please join us for the Utah Renewable Communities Campaign Kick-off Tuesday, March 31, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.
Back in 2019 we helped pass HB411, the Community Renewable Energy Act. That bill enabled cities and counties served by Rocky Mountain Power in Utah to opt into a program to reach a goal of 100% renewable electricity by 2030. You can learn more about the program here.
On March 4th, the Utah Public Service Commission approved the program and the rate structure. Now, local city councils and county commissions have until June 2Â to formally adopt the program that will build the new clean energy projects.
Many of these communities have new leaders since they originally opted into the process and will need education as to why they should now join the program.
At the kickoff, campaign leaders will explain how the program works and what it means for Utah families. They'll share an action toolkit with talking points, council and commission meeting schedules, elected official contact info, and tabling opportunities. After that, we will break into community groups to start planning.
